And so it begins! - Ironman Louisville 2009

I have finally done it. Monday morning I signed up for Ironman Louisville. After 2 years of hot and brutal conditions down there it has to be cool for the race next summer right, I said right. This is the first race form that ever asked me for my insurance provider and policy number. hmmm I wonder why? Oh well I have close to 1 year to prepare! Sure no problem, right, I said no problem right. I feel like I am about to embark on the most difficult journer of my entire life and some I know I will come out the other side a completely changed person ready to take on the world even more so then I am today. Also I know its not the destination that will do this for me but the journey to get there, yet at the same time I have never been more excited and more afraid at the same time. Oh well better get started, I'm going out for a run!

I did louisville in 2008. What an AWESOME race. Just some tips.....
1. It was H-O-T this year. When I trained where I live (MA) I went out during the afternoon to get the heat training in.
2. The ohio river was 82 Degrees on race morning. You could not wear a wet suit, so don't count on the suit carrying through.
3. the start is a time trial start so you don't have to practice wave starts.
4. The bike course was rolling hills, No big hill. There was just a lot of hills!
5. The run is mostly flat so you don't have to do a lot of hill training.

I hope this helps. Shoot me an E-mail if you have any questions

Thanks everyone! I 'll be working our in the hot afternoon sun whenever I can this summ and my wife is getting me an xterra speed suit for the swim so I should be ok there too. I am definetly looking forward to the time trial start, should be much easier. Good news is the Y keeps the pool around 84 so I should be ready for a warm swim. (I hope :-) )

thanks again
